CULVER CITY:
Bike Culver City reports -
On Monday, 23 August, the Culver City Council voted 3-2 (Fisch, McMorrin, Lee) to direct staff to prepare plans to open the Jackson Ave gate to the Ballona Creek path. Staff will return in late September with more detailed plans. We are optimistic that the gate will be opened within a few months. Importantly, the council's motion insisted that the gate be opened 24/7. This will be the first at-grade opening in Culver City; all others involve hills. Bike Culver City, along with many allies, has fought for this change for years and years, and we are delighted with this outcome. Word on the street is that L.A. Councilmember Mike Bonin has agreed to open another Ballona Creek gate within his district if Culver City opens the Jackson Ave gate. We urge the public to remind him of this pledge!
