LA Neighborhood Council Coalition Meeting – Vote NO to Protect Our Streets!

January 5 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

UPDATE: I’m happy to report that, because of this amazing show of opposition, the LANCC has changed its previously anti-road safety motion to be one encouraging better community engagement that includes Neighborhood Councils around roadway reconfigurations and we completely agree! You can find tomorrow’s agenda here.

We’ll be attending tomorrow’s meeting to support the new motion, plus a Mobility Bill of Rights being presented by the Rampart Village Neighborhood Council. 2019 is promising to be an exciting time for mobility advocacy and we’ll need all of your voices, ideas, and networks to continue generating positive support for safe streets.
Happy New Year!

On December 1, 2018, mobility advocates around the city were dismayed to see included on the LANCC’s agenda a motion to remove and prevent proven street safety measures across Los Angeles preceded by a presentation from an anti-street safety special interest group.

Because of the incredibly powerful advocacy the council heard in favor of road safety at that meeting, the board approved a motion to postpone the vote until hearing from a wider variety of stakeholders and advocacy groups .Don’t miss this important opportunity to show your Neighborhood Council representatives that we support street safety this Saturday, January 5th at 10am along with Los Angeles Walks and other partners.

Please join us for the meeting on January 5 to show the Neighborhood Councils that safer streets benefit all of us. You can also write to the LANCC (LANCC@empowerla.org) in advance of the meeting, and let them know why street safety is meaningful to you. (You can also copy our template letter!)
