Acerca del evento

Do you live in South LA and want to learn how to bike more safely and confidently in your community? Has it been awhile since you’ve been on a bike and want to be better prepared to join the upcoming CicLAvia South LA open streets event in December? The Back to Basics class, presented by Metro and LA County Bicycle Coalition in partnership with LADOT and CicLAvia is an online class designed to help you improve your basic bike handling skills. You’ll learn how to start and stop with confidence, scan, and signal. We’ll show you how to adjust your bike and helmet before a ride, and teach you how to perform a simple inspection to ensure your bike is road-ready. This class will prioritize participation from South LA residents.

Participants who complete a class feedback survey will be mailed a FREE pre-loaded TAP card and additional Metro-branded goodies (shipping limited to addresses in LA County).

Class size is limited. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for all participants. Once you are registered, we will send you a confirmation email and more info on how to join the class online. Register now to guarantee your spot!

Thanks to a Sustainable Transportation Equity Project (STEP) statewide grant, LADOT is launching the South Los Angeles Universal Basic Mobility Pilot Program to introduce new shared mobility options for residents and workers, expand fare payment subsidies, integrate fare payment across existing and new transportation options, and expand electrification to advance Universal Basic Mobility for South LA residents. As part of this engagement effort, we are excited to collaborate with community partners to offer fun and engaging bike safety education opportunities to South LA communities to ensure that all residents have access to dignified, frequent, affordable transportation that serves all of their basic needs.
