TAKE YOUR BIKE

BEST WAYS TO CARRY YOUR STUFF

Here's what to stuff your stuff in.

Backpack: You can carry whatever you need to take with you in a simple backpack. The drawback is that the extra weight on your back may get uncomfortable and your back can get sweaty. Nicer backpacks offer ventilation, but the weight is still going to rest on your back and shoulders. Still, you may already have a backpack so this option represents no additional investment.

Racks: A rear rack is a versatile accessory for carrying small or large loads. Attach a milk crate for an instant rear basket, or just use a couple of bungee cords to strap down your belongings. Front racks are also available, and you can get a variety of front and rear bags that attach to your racks.

Bags and panniers: For getting the load off your back, there are many different types of bags that attach to your bike. Panniers are bags that hang on either side of your rack. They are great for carrying your work items and a change of clothes, or all of your camping gear for a long tour.

Baskets: Front and rear baskets are available for most types of bikes. Some front baskets can be quickly attached or removed, and there are even collapsible rear baskets that hang on either side of your rear wheel.

Trailer: For hauling large loads, hitch a bike trailer to the rear of your bike.

Xtracycle: The sport utility bicycle. This attachment extends your bike's length and allows you to haul groceries, a surfboard, your date, or just about anything else you might want to take home. Visit www.xtracycle.com for more information.
