7th St. Bike Lanes Now Open
You've seen the bike lanes on 7th Street. You've ridden them. And today we were able to celebrate them!
Roughly 80 people came together this morning with Councilmember Ed Reyes, LACBC's Jennifer Klausner, LADOT's Kang Hu, CARECEN's Jose Veliz, and City of Lights/BiciDigna's Jose Guzman, to retrace the steps taken to finally land downtown LA's first bike lane! The final touches were placed on the bike lane near 7th and Alvarado in MacArthur Park including torching the bike lane symbol on this very hot day.
Says our Executive Director Jennifer Klausner, "Thank you to our partner organizations, our volunteers, Councilmember Ed Reyes, and the bike community for bringing this much-needed bike lane to an important thoroughfare in LA's core."
The bike lane now runs 2.2 miles through Koreatown, MacArthur Park, and downtown LA from Catalina to Figueroa. It will be expanded through all of downtown and Boyle Heights in the future.
