CITY OF GLENDALE HOSTS FIRST BIKE PLAN MEETING
On Thursday, April 28, 2011, the City of Glendale hosted the first of four-to-five community meetings for the Glendale Bikeway Master Plan update. The meeting was held in the Central Library Auditorium with roughly 25 attendees. Bike and pedestrian planner Ryan Snyder, who is contracted by the City to revise the Bikeway Plan, led the group through a presentation about the different bicycle amenities that will be considered for the Bikeway Plan and gave a rough timeline for the update. No specific dates have been set for the next community meeting, so stay tuned to this website and the City’s Public Works website for announcements. Expect the next meeting to be sometime in June. For those who can’t attend evening meetings or may not be able to attend certain meetings due to scheduling conflicts, the City is working on setting up a web-page to enable online participation. We’ll share information about that as soon as we have it.
Following the presentation and an open discussion, attendees were invited to do a map exercise in which everyone was encouraged to draw suggested bike routes on a map of Glendale. We were told that the next community meeting would include a draft map of potential bikeways for everyone to comment upon. Thanks again to everyone who attended, keep your eyes and ears open for the next community meeting, and bring a friend to the next meeting. More community input will help ensure that the revised Bikeway Master Plan truly serves the needs of Glendale cyclists.
