Founded in 1998, Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) works to build a better, more bike-able Los Angeles County. LACBC is the only membership-based nonprofit organization working exclusively for the millions of people who ride bikes in Los Angeles County. Through advocacy, education and outreach, Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition brings together the diverse bicycling community in a united mission to make the entire L.A. region a safe and enjoyable place to ride.

Thank you to everyone who has responded to our recent call to action! You all have sent in over 100 letters of support to make sure that Phase II of the Expo Bikeway is implemented to make riding your bike there safer.
The Expo Bicycle Advisory Committee met on the morning of Tuesday, August 21st, to discuss some of the design issues identified, including Pico/Gateway and Centinela. There is not yet consensus among Expo Authority staff that design changes need to occur. As LACBC works with Expo and other stakeholders, please continue to send in your letters to the Expo Board if you have not done so already. We will provide further updates as developments occur.
Use our sample letter on the LACBC blog or your own words to email the Expo Board.
This week it was announced that the York Blvd. bike lanes in Highland Park would be extended from Ave. 55 (where they end now) to N. Figueroa Street this month. This .89-mile extension may not seem like a lot of mileage to some, but it signifies both the progress and the ways Northeast LA has to go in in creating a viable bike network.
From CICLE's Four Corners Campaign to the Take Back the Boulevard campaign to Figueroa for all, grassroots advocates have been key in making NELA more bike friendly. Plus, NELA holds the distinction of being the home of the City of LA's first bike corral.
Check out our blog post, written by LACBC intern and Walk Eagle Rock creator Severin Martinez.
Also, if you want to get involved with making NELA a better place to ride, be sure to sign up to be an LACBC Neighborhood Bike Ambassador for the Eastside/Northeast LA region!
